Unchain Our Children Rally with a Walkout! – Saint Paul, MN
On February 26, 2014, in front of Central High School in St. Paul, MN, two-hundred plus people, including students from colleges and other high schools, came out to protest the school to prison pipeline. This event was an effort of the NAACP St. Paul Youth and Collegiate Branch, Save the Kids (STK), and many other organizations and people. STK has been challenging the school to prison pipeline since its 2009 inception in New York. The rally included chanting, a “take over the streets” march, and a walkout of about fifty students. The event ended with a series of speakers and performers at a local church that graciously gave us the free space. There are already many more events and rallies being planned, so stay tuned!
