Mr. Jeff Young has showed me some material on your group.  I would like to give a brief bio of myself, and see if in some way I could work with you.  I have been incarcerated since 1999.  While incarcerated, I now tutor a “domestic violence, family awareness” grow; also I work closely with the “Power of the People” organization.

My goal is to try and be active in my community.  The dream is to work with troubled youth, or young addicts one day.  In the meantime, I seek outlets that would still allow me to be a positive impact for others.  Having once been both a troubled youth and addict, there is a lot of insight that I feel I can offer.  It seems that so much of society simply sees incarceration as a means of dealing with these categories rather than to try and help build these youth into successful adults.  This is where I hope that I could possibly fit into your group.  Whether it’s as a mentor, or just as a support I would be honored to be of assistance anyway that I can.  So many people use incarceration as an excuse or a deterrent for not reaching out and helping a community that needs adults to step up…  This is not me – so please let m know if there is anyway that I too can work with the Save the Kids organization.  Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Toby Earl Johnson
